The San Diego Bay Front Hotel is located right on the water at the South end of the Convention Center. Beautiful location and easy to get to. Conveniently close to the baseball stadium, the Gas Lamp district and the various Bay side attractions. This was our first time at at the Bay Front. Check in was quick and professional. Our room was clean, ready on time and seemed fairly fresh as far as the furnishings. While the view from the 23rd floor was awesome, what really impressed us was the staff. Every interaction was professional but friendly and personal. From the valet, the lady who served us at the Odyssey (Friday 7-23-21 on the patio at 7PM), the house cleaning staff, the gift shop clerk who helped us even though it was closing time and our favorite, Glen from the Bell desk, everyone was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. Not sure I could come up with a constructive criticism but if I did it would be the food choices. I will say the breakfast burrito was awesome though. Great choice if San Diego is your destination.

(To be fair the staff have been amazing, shout out esp. to my guy Steve at the bar) For anyone looking for a chill vacation spot away from crowds and big families look elsewhere or check the stadium schedule. Place has been absolutely slammed with LA Dodgers fans the last three days and it’s been difficult to reach guest services, find parking (which you must pay $40 a day for) and access the elevators for a 30 floor building. There is also just a lot of random trash in the hallways right now. The pool area is supposedly capped at a certain capacity for distancing but there’s not enough room to sit for social distancing and 80% of the pool is full of children all day so there’s nowhere to just lay out in the pool and relax. I asked if there were a few hours for only adults to access the pool each day but unfortunately the answer was nope. Furthermore you have to tell 2/3 people that you’re not sharing an elevator car with them. It’s also strange that there’s a wine fridge but no access to a microwave – who enters a hotel room thinking ‘I’m so glad they opted out of microwaves and instead installed this wine fridge for my private wine collection which I’m magically lugging around just because we’re so close to wine country here in SD’ — as I’m writing this it is 11pm and someone is just blasting country music. It’s been like this for two days. I’m surprised at this experience at a Hilton. It’s a party hotel with little regulation during events. I feel like I got caught up in a Disney convention. At $320 night there should be a bit more peace and comfort.

The atmosphere is Absolutely amazing. Everything in the hotel are very clean and neat, Customer service is awesome!!! We had a great experience. FYI: Food are too overpriced inside the hotel, I would recommend order takeout. The only part that I didn’t like is the pool hours, they Close too early (6pm). Starbucks and smoothies restaurant inside the building also close early too.

Fantastic hotel, I stayed here twice, One of which with my dog, both were great experiences.
employees go out of their way to make things easy and comfortable for the guests, clean rooms and beautiful architecture.
comfortable beds, and the Grant Grill is great too.
great selection of restaurants and bars near by, and its super close to the trolley station. expensive parking fees though.

The hotel is gorgeous. It’s historical and been renovated. Unfortunately, the only thing that is complementary is water and coffee. There is no parking. Only valet and it’s 50$ a day. Other nice hotels would credit me 15$ a day in their restaurants just as a thank you with that you can get breakfast lunch or dinner. US Grant does not offer that. Also there is an incidental fee of 100$ a night which they didn’t tell me about prior to arrival. Staff is super accommodating and kind. Beds are very comfortable. Rooms are cute and give off a European vibe.

This was a very nice hotel that is rich with history. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The decor and the furnishings are top notch and the bed was insanely comfortable. I truly wish that I had a reason to spend more nights here as it was one of the most pleasant t hotel experiences I’ve ever had in my life. My only gripe would the area surrounding the hotel isn’t the greatest. But on an adjacent corner is the Gaslamp Fish House and you have to eat there!

We did a morning stay as we arrived at 6am and needed somewhere quiet to work and rest up. This means we checked in at 7am and checked out at noon. The price for this was very reasonable, around half the rate for nights. Room was kinda small, but clean and tidy. View was also pretty good. Staff was normal nice, nothing over the top. No designated parking though, closest one would have to be in the structure directly across from it. It’s a decent place overall, nothing to complain about.

Cons: The hotel is nice however, the rooms are very small considering the price you pay. Our AC unit was horrible! It was very hot in our room throughout our stay. We even put the temperature to its lowest setting (65 degrees) and our room still did not get cool. The AC vent was located in the walkway of our room rather than the sleeping area. Not sure if all the rooms are set up this way but if you find yourself with a room like ours, ask for another room. When we went to the pool area to have drinks, we ask for food menus but they stated that the Chef did not show up so they were unable to provide food. In addition, the valet service was horrible! We requested our car at 12:00pm and the valet attendant told us that our car was up next. Our valet did not show up until 12:33pm. We were told that the car is around the corner several times. The valet attendant at the stand had to call his driver to ask him where he was because it took so long. Absolutely unacceptable. Never experienced this before. Seems as though the driver may have taken a joy ride with our car.

The Pros of this hotel: Rooftop pool (4th floor), great drinks, great music/atmosphere, the hotel staff is very friendly, the area is close to multiple restaurants & bars, and the bed is very comfortable.

VALET STOLE FROM OUR CAR. The room itself was nice but I have contacted the hotel and spoke to several staff about this issue but never got a call back from the hotel manager. I feel like this is something that happens often and won’t be acknowledged because they don’t care. First of all, you pay for the valet parking apart from the room fee and to have it rummaged through for stuff? It’s not about the stuff but the principle of it. If you ask me to hand the keys over and trust you with the car then pay for it, don’t steal from it.

Why is this hotel not a 5 stars yet I don’t know. From the service, to the rooms, decor and amenities you will feel like you are at a 5 stars hotel in this beautiful historical place. Robert Montgomery made our check in easy and was so lovely to give us a lot of information materials about the history of the hotel. They were also kind enough to store one of our luggage till our return when we went to hawaiii and realized that we were over packaged. They have a high tea which is very charming and a fantastic happy hour with gourmet food for only $7 a dish and live music. Look no further if you want an elegant atmosphere with great service and amenities.

Nice hotel, great staff, has an old 1940’s feel about it. Love the lobby, lots of antiques and artwork. 2nd night had an issue with the toilet getting clogged, but had barely used the toilet paper, so that was fun… Overall it was pretty pricey, but very nice hotel.

I’m not sure how 2/5 = an ‘okay’ rating. That’s a 40%. Because of that, I had to change my rating to a 1/5. There were a few positives. The room was spacious, and I loved being able to open up the french doors to a tiny balcony to let some fresh air come in. Aside from that, I’m very disappointed. First, my room was not very clean (especially in the bathroom). There was a buildup of residue on the shower head, and the tub portion of the shower combo smelled. Even after housekeeping came in for a clean, the smell never went away. Another issue was the terribly slow Internet. Mind you, we are paying an “amenity” fee that covers the cost of the ever-slow Internet. $20 a night for that is ridiculous. There was no choice in the matter. I tried to call downstairs several times to ask if it could be reset, but no one ever answered, except one time in which I was placed on the longest hold ever. Finally, on the day of my check out, I searched high and low for my glasses. I could not find them, and I informed the desk staff that I wasn’t leaving SD until that evening. If they could PLEASE inform the cleaning staff of this, in case they found them while I was still in the city. I didn’t hear anything. I bet the desk staff didn’t even communicate that to the housekeepers. At the very least, a simple “they could not find them” would have helped. There was nothing. The hotel was noisy – you could hear neighbors’ entire conversations, the people downstairs, the homeless outside at night, and THE LIGHT RAIL is seemingly endless. You can hear everything. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I had a wonderful time. My family enjoyed themselves immensely. From the valet parking attendants to the front desk attendants, they were professional, courteous, extremely friendly and helpful. Stephanie, the concierge was extremely helpful and absolutely wonderful, she guided us throughout our stay. She was able to make many reservations for my family and I. Her knowledge of the area was extremely helpful and made our vacation a success. The rooms as always immaculate. CDC guidelines were maintained for Covid. All in all, I definitely recommend The Harbour lights at Club Wyndham.

While my family loves timeshares, I don’t. However, Harbour Lights was a great place for my extended family vacation. We had three rooms, and it was perfect for having everyone there. Workout room was brand new (felt like it) and the steam room and sauna complement the long vacation days perfectly!

The rooms are beautiful spacious and very comfortable. Nice amenities in kitchen and bathroom. Having a kitchen with a full refrigerator and ice maker made a week’s visit more affordable to eat out in the hundreds of pubs and restaurants within walking distance. The front desk staff could not have been better and more pleasant. Both concierge had good recommendations and directions. The only thing keeping it from a 5 was the fact that the street noise is very loud and very long. Loud cars motorcycles and partiers last until 3:45 in the morning. Thursday the trash trucks begin banging along the entire street at 6:00 a.m. for 30 minutes. Every day the delivery trucks started at 6am banging doors up-and-down. Makes for a very short night. Room 208 directly above the front door was especially bad. Air plugs might help a more sound proofed window would definitely help.

A really great hotel! Amazing art deco vibe, nice big rooms, amazing views of downtown. Valet parking for guests with 24hr in/out privileges. Staff is always great, and the location is right in the heart of downtown San Diego, tons of bars/restaurants/shops in walking distance! We always have a good time when we stay here!

Parking is valet for $38 or lot next door for $50/day, no ins-outs. This place is in the heart of the action, so expect party-city noises. They died down a little after midnight. Merry, at the front desk, was amazing. She was so funny and welcoming. You can tell she really enjoys her job. The corner suite was great. The views were nice and the room was spacious enough. We did have a few issues with the cables in the room but called down and was able to get someone to come up and fix it. The rooftop terrace was so nice. There is a small section to sit if the outside is too cold/windy. The downstairs bar was the best thing though. We had a great time drinking and taking in the atmosphere. Definitely a great stay and will be back.

At check in the front desk didn’t have a customer but after making me wait treated me like I was an annoyance. Then the next day when the front desk needed to give me something they asked that I come down to them rather than bringing it by.

That is all fine for a 2 star hotel. That would be more accurate to the experience I had during my stay.

The lobby was beautiful. The rooms were dated.

Rooms are nice but feel a bit outdated. Very clean, staff is very friendly. Price was decent for the area, but parking is an issue. To be fair, it’s an issue anywhere in downtown San Diego, but be prepared to pay 30+ a day for parking. If you’re in San Diego without a car, the rating would likely go up to 5*. It’s close to attractions, and many restaurants and bars.

We had a wonderful stay here! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous! The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and I’m very particular about a clean room. We utilized the valet service almost daily. That was a lifesaver because parking would have been a challenge. It’s a great location because there are some fantastic restaurants all within walking distance which was nice. I will say the homeless situation in San Diego is out of control now. Born and raised in CA and being away for 6+ years and then coming back for a visit, I was disgusted at what the city has become. It’s really sad. So be prepared, you are visiting a major city and if homeless is something you don’t want to see, don’t stay downtown. It’s everywhere and not the hotel’s fault. As for the hotel and mine and my family’s safety, we felt safe and secure at this hotel. Valet is 24 hours and there is always someone out there. There are always people working inside the hotel. Everyone was extremely friendly and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. It would always be my first choice. This hotel is gorgeous!

I absolutely loved staying at this hotel! All the staff were extremely hospitable and went above and beyond. The restaurant food is delicious, especially the rock fish tacos. Beds and pillows are lovely (pillows are very soft) and the rooms’ furniture, artwork and bathroom were all stylish. Plenty of drawer space and closet for storing clothes. Housekeeping was excellent, they even laid out all of my jewelry and makeup brushes on a hand towel so they wouldn’t get roughed up. The food at the cafe was also great, I loved the yogurt parfaits, paninis and french toast sticks. I think basically my only qualm was the heated pool which was interesting, it was slightly too warm during the sunny days but also too cold to swim at night. But it was basically empty every time I went which was great! I also sort of wish the rooms had microwaves, but if you take your food to the front desk they’ll kindly warm it up for you. I’ll
definitely stay here again when I come back to San Diego 🙂

I have honestly had better service and amenities from your average road side motel. Besides allowing your neighbors to party until 5 am, they add a $25 daily fee to offer you a free beer coupon, and the showers leave HUGE puddles in your bathroom because they are not sealed properly. I have seen the same room service stuff left outside one room for 3 days in a row now.
This hotel acts like it is Five Stars, but offers nothing to back it up. I would avoid this place at all costs if you have the option.

Bristol Hotel has been ABHORRENT with my family and our reservation. We saved up for months trying to get a nice family vacation and just rest and relax. We got the EXACT OPPOSITE when we walked in the doors. They didn’t honor our reservation when we told them we booked a stay, they didn’t offer us a refund OR tell us anything they could do to accommodate us because apparently, with over 500+ rooms that they were full to capacity, when SEVERAL people walked in and made reservations and just, walked out with no issue whatsoever?! The manager, who’s name shall forever be, Peter the INCOMPETENT, in my circle, talked us around in circles when we asked him what in Gods name happened, and for solutions as to what we could do. He ALSO AVOIDED TELLING US HIS NAME FOR 30 MINUTES! “Oh come in the morning and bring a better attitude, you’ll catch more flies with honey” EXCUSE ME?! How are you gonna stand there and tell me and my family YOU mismanaged our reservation, wont give us a refund or help us in ANY WAY, and ON TOP OF IT ALL act like an entitled, know-it-all messiah of wisdom. Peter needs to be let go ASAP. It was an absolutely horrible experience, horrible staff work. Completely ridiculous and extremely out of line telling us “Everything happens for a reason, this is just building character.” How can you say that to me when this was your mistake? Needless to say we shall not ever be returning and encourage others to stay away.

I can’t even put into words the level of service at this hotel. Yvette and Rob really took care of us today ad went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and all set. Great location pretty much located in the middle of everything. The room I stayed in was a bit on the smaller side, but was exceptionally clean and the bed is super comfy. This hotel has been here for many years so I like the updates they made to the inside. Small fridge in the room, and they also have a common microwave but it’s downstairs by the lobby. Valet parking is $39 a night, kind of high to me but I guess that’s downtown for you. Walking distance to a few restaurants and the front desk customer service is exceptional. I would definitely stay again.

Decent concept but poorly executed when it comes to your rooftop restaurant. It seems like a second thought or one more way to make an extra buck in these last days of the pandemic.
Work on it and maybe I’ll give you 5 stars. In the meantime think about getting more organized and provide better service. The make bartender there is exceptional. He was friendly, kind and accommodating.

I think Andaz San Diego is a fantastic hotel for those looking to enjoy a nice night out downtown. The hotel itself is located directly in the centre of downtown—- walking distance to an abundance of establishments, you will find getting to and from the Andaz a breeze! It’s also a less than 10 minutes drive from the beach which is great if you want to hit the beach for a day! The interior is very stylish/modern and everyone is extremely welcoming and friendly! The rooms are also very spacious compared to near by hotels and the Andaz shower is very cool! Please be prepared to pay for valet as parking isn’t included! However, the hotel itself is located directly in the center of downtown so you may not even have the need to grab the car as you’ll likely find yourself too busy exploring all of what downtown has to offer ! I will note that if you are more so looking to relax and wind down for a family outing then you may have better luck at other Hyatt’s outside of downtown as the Andaz really shines as a hotel catering to its perfect vicinity to all of the various food options and nightlife surrounding it. I initially had some minor concerns with this Hotel however the manager Amanda addressed my concerns and truly provided amazing customer service! I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to explore downtown and have a good time with friends.

Hotel bed was very comfortable. Generally nice and in good shape. Roof and pool space fantastic.

Problem with the latter is that it’s the only real common area space at which to hang and they book it for events. I actually booked this hotel for the roof and pool area to relax at the end of a long trip. It was a Sunday and I was unable to go. So the space is fun for the attendees if you’re having an event, but if you’re paying for the hotel in order to have that space, then you may be out of luck.

The response from the hotel was that “it is a bummer”. So know that you don’t necessarily get access to the best part of the hotel when staying here and that they really don’t care. For a hotel which promotes that area so much for its guests, kinda poor form and worse response.

Rank low as it’s misguided to advertise something to a guest they may not get and then the poor customer service around the issue. They email some customers letting them know, but not all depending on how you book, apparently. I was never informed according to the staff.

Cleanliness was an issue as well. There was hair all over the bathroom which is a bit gross at any time, but particularly during the pandemic.

Update. And despite the statement the response regarding roof top partial opening for guests, a hotel employee was on the roof blocking the entry and plainly stating it was closed for a private event.

What a beautifully maintained and modernly updated historical find. We stayed in a suite and it was palatial. The separate living area was really nice to entertain our guests in.

The lobby is stunning with many sofas to lounge about and the front desk staff was so welcoming and helpful. They even had treats prepared for our dogs. Did I mention this hotel is dog friendly?

Additionally, all the details in our room were very well thought out. The bed was super comfy and the pillows plentiful. The shower is done really nicely. I appreciate how such an old building has been renovated so well. It reminds me very much of beautiful old hotels in Italy that have been fabulously redone.

I really like that they have a water station for fresh cold water too. The dogs and I took a quick 5-minute walk and we were at the harbor… beautiful! We will be back!

Great boutique hotel. Check in was fast. Staff is friendly. There is parking behind the hotel, but you do have to pay for it. However, they provide you the pass and it is in-and-out parking at your convenience, so not a hassle when you need to go somewhere. It is a 10 minute walk to the restaurants in the Gas Lamp District. However, there is no view of the bay. Convenient location in the heart of downtown San Diego. Definitely recommend.

Loved this hotel. Love the vintage feel! The little bit of history on the hall lights is a nice touch. Super friendly staff

We had a small room with a double bed but was well appointed with microwave, flat screen TV and refrigerator. Modern conveniences like a safe and other USB hookups as well. Breakfast was fantastic. The management was very pleasant and congenial. Right in the heart of the gas lamp district. If you’re looking for no frills clean quiet place in a good location, this is a good choice. Only downside is parking. The place charges $32 a night to park in their tiny little lot. We opted to park on the street but mind which side you park on because of the street sweeping. And you’ll need to either feed a meter or move your car by 10:00 a.m. Other than that, was wonderful.

The room was clean and fine, a few lights did not work. I requested a late check-in and out because I was there for an overnight layover. Check-in seemed fine, he told me I could check out at 1:00 pm, I changed which card I wanted to be charged, and went on my way. The next day I go to check out at 1:00 and the front desk said they were trying to call me because I was supposed to be out by noon. Apparently, the front desk staff from the previous night didn’t note my late check out in the system and the cleaning crew had been in my room while I ran to get food before leaving, even though the Do Not Disturb sign was up. THEN I look at my account when I got home and BOTH of my cards had been charged $206.49, and one of my cards had an additional charge of $202.29. I called on Sunday and was told to call back M-Th from 10-3 because that’s when the Billing Department is in for that hotel. So I called back Monday and was told the billing department is only in TWICE A MONTH. That one of the $206.49 should be back in my account by Friday, and they have no idea where the $202.29 came from. The person on the phone the second time was able to explain everything except the mysterious $202.29 charge, however, would not let me explain this separate charge and kept talking about the $206.49 being the room charge of $106.49 and $100 temporary authorization- which I was never told about. No one on this end seems to understand that $615.27 is quite a large chunk to see come out of 2 separate accounts. I chose Comfort Inn / a Choice Hotel because I was traveling as a young, single woman and I felt safe there. I now feel very taken advantage of. Would not recommend staying here.

Parking is fun to find. If you happen to get in their specific lot, better hope you have a tiny vehicle and it’s $32 a day – which we aware not aware of; booking through choice hotels website had no mention of this. We got a single queen room. Tiniest room ever! Tiny toilet, too. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Everything is within walking distance for food and bars.

It’s a really cool place! Creatively decorated. Comfy beds. Helpful professional staff. Just make sure to stay away from Room 217 if you’re a nonsmoker. The shop downstairs filled our room with smoke. Also, if you’re a light sleeper, know that this place is by the bars & clubs where you hear all the noise till 3am. Oh & they also have clean bathrooms with showers 🙂

Best hostel in the city! Expensive compared to Lucky D’s and Hostel on 3rd, which I both stayed at, but cleaner, feels safer, and offers more amenities. There are simple procedures to everything (ex. Checking in bags the day of check out, checking receipt as you walk through the hall, laundry room closes after 11pm) that ensures the safety and comfort of all.

Stayed in Room 302 facing the inner corridor. Loud in the mornings 6-7am because of the garbage trucks but earplugs provided!

Fun place to stay in the heart of the city. Would suggest it is 2 stars category hotel based on the amenities. They do have fun nightly events including an art show and live music.

My group was 5 couples and we came in from out of town for a friend’s birthday party. We had some trouble checking in to get some early availability on our reserved rooms but a few hours later, things worked themselves out. The hotel staff at the kitchen and for Tom service was phenomenal. Very kind, friendly and helpful humans work here. If we had a better experience when we were checking in, this would have a perfect 5 star review

We stayed 4 nights and it was pretty great. We had a fantastic view of the bay and city through our room 1308. Any room that ends with an 08 or 06 are going to have the best views I feel. The bar and restaurant are very good. The Cafe was a little slow but still good.

Lucky D’s more like Lucky Me. This hostel was a truly great experience! The staff were all extremely friendly and gave great recommendations on things to do around town. The private room was simplistic and comfortable, but the common rooms and even the hallways were outstanding! I also appreciated the shower and bathrooms that are at this location, all were very clean. Overall I will be returning for the great vibes here alone. Thanks for making my San Diego trip that much better Lucky D’s!

My friend and I stayed at Lucky D’s for a short weekend, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, however my biggest issue was with parking. I’m not from San Diego and had no idea the weekend would be filled with baseball games. We paid over $50 to park in the lot next to the hostel for the weekend, but when we attempted to return after a long day at the beach, we were unable to park literally anywhere or access our room in the hostel. We drove around for forever and had to stalk cars to be able to park. I wish this hostel had a parking deal worked out where guests were guaranteed a spot. It was extremely frustrating and expensive. For $80/night it was as expected. The room was dirty and outdated with no A/C, even with the provided fan we were hot. The bed however was comfy and we felt safe, even being in the heart of the Gaslamp district. I would stay here again if there were easier parking and possibly A/C.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ. ᴄᴏᴍ when booking any room. This site will compare thousands of booking web sites and normally will have prices much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This resort is one of my favorites in the area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you stay for a few nights you won’t be disappointed.

Very nice rooms, and very comfortable beds!! Not too bad on price. Our only complaint is the parking garage. Its very hard to park, I was extremely thankful our car wasn’t bigger than our smaller suv or we might have been like others who hit the walls and poles along the way.

First the positives. Great location, price for parking cheaper than others, excellent staff, decent breakfast options. Negatives are dirty smelly carpets and parking garage is very tight. Overall not a bad hotel, close to Gas Lamp quarter and other downtown attractions

Clean room and breakfast in the mornings. I dislike that you have to pay for parking as well instead of it being included with your room rental but I guess that’s a San Diego thing. Regardless the underground parking was convenient except it’s a very small space to maneuver your vehicle. Advise to you if you’re from out of town is rent a smaller/compact car if you plan on using the parking lot in the hotel.

This quaint little motel has everything.

-Stained Blankets with a white substance.
-Stained Chairs with a white substance.
-Broken Dresser
-Broken Sliding Door Locks.
-AC Unit stuck at 70 degrees 24/7.
-Homeless wandering the parking lot all day and night.
-Tight compact parking spots that fill up quickly, despite paying $20 a day.
-And More

Overall, the place was pretty ”meh”. Definitely not worth $120 a night + $20 a day parking. I constantly had people in other rooms standing outside their door asking for money every time I went by.

The only saving grace was that downtown was about a 1 mile walk away. Other than that, this was a $50 motel. I do NOT recommend unless you like all the things I mentioned above.

No pool, no breakfast (they said continental breakfast was included when we called to make the reservation) and the parking was paid, not free. The price was not worth at all. The hotel looks more like a Motel. I do not recommend this place

Both Leticia and the younger Latino male receptionists were super courteous, helpful and quick.
I thank Leticia for giving me room 201 right above the reception. End unit on the street side, tenants in 202 were quiet also. I was able to get rest.
Occasionally, people fraternizing right outside of reception at night were loud, including the older short receptionist man.
Parking is $15 but plenty of street parking. The price is right. Location is great. Thank you.
